Super Stars

This month in Super Stars we have welcomed the next cohort of children into the group, ensuring that they feel safe and secure. Everyone has settled in well and are enjoying the new room, and building friendships; this all contributes to their personal, social and emotional development. We began our growing topic with cress heads, and have now moved onto beans, pumpkins, potatoes, carrots and sunflowers! These will hopefully soon grow and the children can plant them in the garden. Filling the pots and adding seeds all help with mathematical development, and also develops our care of living things and knowledge of the world. In the garden we have played lots of different games, such as ring toss and imaginative play in the mud kitchen! During Forest School we have done lots of bug hunting and identification, as well as creating bubble wands using wooden sticks. Every week we have ‘Show and Tell’ where the children bring items from home to talk about in front of their friends; this helps to build self confidence, language skills, and a sense of worth, as they are so proud to show off their items. We have covered many topics during ‘Show and Tell’, including ‘our parents jobs’ and ‘emergency services’ and the children quickly learnt 999! We celebrated VE day by having an outdoor picnic lunch for which we created our own VE day flags. We have also been doing lots of name writing practice, as well as practicing our alphabet. We did some messy painting play and created lots of colourful handprints, as well as beginning to get ready for our Graduation in July!
