This month in Little Stars we have been focusing on our fine motor skills as well as encouraging colour recognition with lots of free drawing and mark making with different media, such as paint pens and crayons. The children have enjoyed being able to use their imagination to create whatever pictures they want. We have also been focusing on doing some problem-solving activities with puzzles and using our fine motor skills to place the puzzle pieces in the correct places; the children have done well with these. We have spent a lot of time outside exploring the garden, especially the big garden. The children have loved using their gross motor skills to climb, run, and walk through the tunnel. We have also been using our gross motor skills on the soft play, which the children love to join in with. We spent some time while it was warm getting stuck into some water play to encourage sensory play. The children had fun washing the farm animals with soap and water and we had fun searching for the balls in the water. We have also spent some time building our independence and fine motor skills by learning how to cut our own fruit for snack time.
