Recently in Shining Stars, we have been exploring our new topic – Summer! We turned our role play area into an ice cream parlour where the children have been working together to serve ice cream and take it in turns to use the till. We also had a group discussion about our favourite flavour ice cream. We have also been working on our cutting skills using scissors to cut tissue paper. We then stuck the tissue paper onto ice cream templates. We have been exploring our senses: sight, smell, and touch. We looked at different herbs and discussed how they felt to touch, how they smelt, and which was our favourite. We also looked at different materials, exploring how they felt. During Forest School, we have been hunting for fairy doors! The children had so much fun making fairy wands using natural resources. To follow on from this, we decorated our own fairy doors and described what our fairies would look like as well as what we would name them.
