SUPER STARS

This month in Super Stars, we have been using our role play area as an Aquarium! The children enjoyed decorating the different fish and sea horses, using lots of different colours, as well as making a huge octopus using different art materials. This supported their colour recognition. We have been talking lots about the different kinds of fish in the sea, and reading books where we found out some facts about different kinds of sharks! This focused on the children’s learning, and their communication and language as they were asking questions about different types of sharks and about their lifespan.

Our theme of the month in Super Stars was animals – this is where the children have been getting creative and decorating all the different kinds of animals such as tigers, cows, sheep, zebras, and a pig. This supports their familiarisation and creativity as they used different textures and art materials.

Our book of the week for this week was the ‘Hungry Caterpillar’ – we have been reading and understanding more about the hungry caterpillar, the children also used tissue paper for the different foods that the hungry caterpillar eats, as well as using different colours to decorate these foods. Over the past month, the children have familiarised themselves with their own name during registration and most can now recognise their letters confidently. We have been practising tracing and writing our own name so that we are more confident with this; this focused on their letter recognition and literacy skills.
