Super Stars
This month in Super Stars, we have settled back into the nursery routine and had our first Forest School session of the new year! The children have really enjoyed discovering different bugs/insects under the logs and wooden planks, as well as exploring the mud and building dens for the cuddly toys, they made pretend bonfires and enjoyed using their imagination sitting together and pretending to warm up some ‘marshmallows’. This supported their understanding of the world and imagination skills. We have been practising name writing and getting more and more confident in writing our names without support! The children did this by tracing their names and having a go underneath – this worked well with their letter recognition and literacy skills. We have been doing lots of different activities to prepare for the Chinese New Year. The children decorated their very own snake using the colour green and different coloured gems and sequins to stick onto their snake. We have also been doing some Chinese writing, which focused on their pen control. The children have had a go at decorating their own faces, drawing on their eyes, ears, mouth, nose, and hair where we have also talked about how everyone is different in their own ways, the children have been asking lots of questions when doing this activity – this supported their understanding and worked on diversity.
