Super Stars
This month in Super Stars, we have introduced some new toys to the new class! This includes a coffee machine which the children have used to make us a coffee and a cappuccino, talking about the process of this – which has supported their recognition and turn taking. We have also used our new ice cream shop, where the children sold different flavours of ice cream and have been talking about the prices! Some of the children queued up waiting patiently in the line and used the ice cream menu to pick out what flavour of ice cream they wanted, they then asked questions like “how much for the strawberry ice cream?”, their friend would say, “that would be £1 please”, and they proceeded to give the money to their friend! This worked so well in Super Stars and has supported their imagination and understanding of the world. We have also engaged in so many creative activities, such as junk modelling – creating our own projects and using the different art materials to decorate them! The children used paint, glue, sticky tape, and different coloured pompoms, pipe cleaners and tissue paper to stick onto their project and talking about what they are making and what art materials they were using, which also worked on their hand-eye co-ordination and supported their creativity and expressive art and design! We have also read a book relating to our junk modelling activity called ‘The Undersea Cleaning Spree’; this book supported the children’s familiarisation on the plastic and rubbish that is built up on the seashore which related to our activity as we have been using plastic materials.
